Dr. Alex Dopico, distinguished professor and chair of the Department of Pharmacology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, has been awarded $1.9 million to extend funding for his ongoing research into the effects of alcohol on the brain.
The College of Health Professions at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center will hold two celebrations Wednesday, Aug. 27, to commemorate the college’s renaming.
“Methodist University and Regional One are probably going to see the majority of those patients, and to the extent that they’re children, Le Bonheur,” said Teresa Waters, chair of the Department of Preventive Medicine in the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Medicine.
Ae-Kyung Yi, associate professor in the departments of Pediatrics, and Microbiology, Immunology and Biochemistry at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, has received a grant totaling $1.6 million from the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases, a subsidiary of the National Institutes of Health.
“Men tend not to adjust as well,” said Dr. James Allen Greene, chair of psychiatry and the Harrison Distinguished Professor in Mental Health at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, which partners with the Crisis Center and provides its call center and administrative offices.
West Tennessee Regional Forensic Center (WTRFC) is ramping up its staff following news last month that theUniversity of Tennessee Health Science Center(UTHSC) had been awarded a $3.1 million contract to operate the center and the Shelby County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The UTHSC researchers, Dr. Karen C. Johnson and David Nelson, made the list of more than 3,000 highly cited researchers. Their papers ranked among the top 1 percent of most cited for their subject field and year of publication.
