Racial trauma in the Black community could have generational effects
The death of George Floyd in Minnesota has sparked a national conversation about racial justice in the US. Some of that dialog has centered around the need for better mental health awareness and services in the Black community. Racial trauma refers to the mental toll many Black Americans face from regular encounters with racism.
