At Thanksgiving, it’s not uncommon to eat a 4500 calorie meal. That’s 2000 calories above the recommended daily amount, and it can throw the blood sugar into a frenzy. It’s downright dangerous for people with diabetes or prediabetes.

November is National Diabetes Awareness Month.

More than 34 million Americans have diabetes. But even more Americans, 88 million, have prediabetes.

There is good news, however. Prediabetes no longer means you are definitely going to get diabetes.

FOX13 asked Dr. Samuel Dagogo-Jack, a leading researcher on diabetes from UTHSC, what a person can do to avoid or delay getting Type 2 diabetes.
