Researchers report a case of porphyria cutanea tarda associated with hepatitis C

A recent case study published in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) describes a rare case of porphyria cutaneous yards associated with Hepatitis C. The case is reported by Dr. Tejesh S. Patel and Dr. Evgeniya Teterina Mohammed from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, Tennessee. Porphyria cutanea tarda (PCT) is the most common type of porphyrias. Usually, the disease manifests with dermatological signs, including skin fragility and vesciculo-bullous eruption on the hand and face, which become evident after exposure to sunlight.
