The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) offers a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program through its College of Nursing, designed to prepare Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) for roles as Nurse Practitioners. The program is aimed at baccalaureate or higher degree holders in nursing and certified master’s-prepared NPs seeking to complete their DNP degree.
The local stations are also teaming up to distribute Dr. Christina Rosenthal’s book “You Can Become a Doctor Too” to kids and families.
In response to this shortage, we initiated discussions with the governor’s office, leading to the Healthy Smiles Initiative. This initiative secured $94 million in state funds, increasing UT Health Science Center’s student enrollment from 100 to 130 per year. While this is a positive step, ongoing efforts are necessary.
