When the health care system announced the $40 million gift a week ago, it said the money would be used to transform the current Methodist University Hospital Transplant Institute, which is a partnership between Methodist and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
The Grand Opening is a result of an innovative partnership between Methodist Healthcare, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and West Clinic, who joined together in January 2012 to form West Cancer Center.
Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare (MLH) and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) have received the largest gift in their 100-year history.
