Memphis Crisis Center volunteers field calls for new national hotline

|

Memphis Crisis Center has provided volunteer-powered crisis line services to the community for more than half a century, and its role in the mental health of the community has expanded with the launch of 988, a new national crisis hotline.

Community support is essential to the success of Memphis Crisis Center, and University of Tennessee Health Science Center provides physical space for the center on its campus while also providing psychiatric consultation and referral services.

“UTHSC has been a tremendous partner for the past decade,” LaBonte said. “And we provided trainings to them around crisis intervention and suicide prevention. We’re working to deepen that relationship now with 988.”
