Dr. Handorf Quoted on Forensic Center

In June, the commission approved a $3.1 million contract with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center to run the medical examiner’s office, which also serves as the West Tennessee Regional Forensic Center. Now, Chancellor, 56, is looking forward to a working relationship with UTHSC that includes training forensic pathologists in a fellowship program. “And that will be great because forensic pathologists are hard to find,” she said.

Dr. Charles Handorf, chairman of pathology at UTHSC, is the administrator of the forensic center. “Our goal would be eventually to have a forensic science center of excellence here,” Handorf said.
