County commissioners hesitant about Regional One ‘go forward’ resolution

Shelby County commissioners didn’t exactly give a green light Wednesday, March 8, to Shelby County Mayor Lee Harris’ still-forming plan to come up with $350 million in capital funding for a rebuild of Regional One Health. Harris, along with Regional One leaders and leaders of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, are also talking with legislators about state and federal capital funding. Part of the state funding could come with the formation of an “academic health authority” that would make the ties between Regional One and UTHSC closer and possibly come with ongoing funding from the UT system and/or state government.
