It’s the third year for the conference, which attracted more than 120 people last year. UTHSC anticipates double the number of attendees this year when the focus will be “Serving Families Affected by Opioid Misuse.”
The conference will bring together experts in substance use disorder to share how genetics, trauma and opportunity contribute to developing opioid use disorder across the lifespan.
“We wanted to make sure that our students were equipped with information about how to best treat their patients and really look at them holistically, and not just as a person struggling with addiction,” said Sarah Rhoads, chair of the Department of Community and Population Health at UTHSC.
