The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) is pleased to announce that RxBio, Inc., an early stage biopharmaceutical company that has spun out of UTHSC, has been awarded a $15 million federal contract.
Michael McDonald, PhD, associate professor in the Departments of Neurology, and Anatomy and Neurobiology at UTHSC, has received a grant totaling $910,200 from the National Institute on Aging, a subsidiary of the NIH.
Kevin Creamer, a graduate student in the Integrated Biomedical Sciences Program at UTHSC, has received a grant award for $94,812 from the National Institute on Aging, a subsidiary of the National Institutes of Health.
Robert Parker, PharmD, and S. Casey Laizure, PharmD, professors in the Department of Clinical Pharmacy, have received a grant award of $299,584 from the National Institute of General Medical Sciences to study drug interaction.
Kenichi Tokita, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology at UTHSC, has received a grant totaling $444,000 from the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders.
Anjaparavanda Naren, PhD, professor of Physiology at the UTHSC, has received a research grant totaling $1,217,250 from the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, a subsidiary of the NIH.
Detlef Heck, PhD, professor in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology at UTHSC, has received a grant for $371,723 from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, a subsidiary of the NIH.
Marie Chisholm-Burns, PharmD, MPH, FCCP, FASHP, the newly appointed dean for the College of Pharmacy at UTHSC, has been named recipient of the 2011 Pharmacy Practice Research Award.
