The University of Tennessee Health Science Center’s College of Pharmacy remains No.1 in Tennessee and reached No.19 among pharmacy schools in the nation.

Maintaining its long-held title as the top pharmacy college in Tennessee, the UT Health Science Center College of Pharmacy was named No. 19 among pharmacy schools in the country, according to the U.S. News & World Report, which ranks pharmacy colleges every four years. The college moved up one spot from its previous ranking of No. 20, which it has held since 2020.

“Being a top pharmacy school in the nation and No. 1 in Tennessee is an accomplishment that stands as a testament to the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students toward excellence in pharmacy education, practice, and research,” said College of Pharmacy Dean Reginald Frye, PharmD, PhD. “I am proud of our accomplishments in being the No. 1 pharmacy school in the state while maintaining an affordable tuition cost.”

Out of 141 schools and programs offering Doctor of Pharmacy degrees accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education and ranked by U.S. News & World Report, the college ranked No. 19 nationally, placing it in the top 15% of the country.

The UT Health Science Center College of Pharmacy has delivered excellent pharmacy education for over 126 years. The college offers a comprehensive four-year PharmD program that combines basic and clinical sciences with social and administrative sciences. The program emphasizes skill-based competency to ensure students are well-prepared for a successful career as a pharmacist. With three campuses located in Knoxville, Memphis, and Nashville, students have the flexibility to complete all four years of their degree in the Tennessee region of their choice.

“One of the reasons I love the work I do for the College of Pharmacy is because I can share information about our program with integrity,” says Kara Bowen, College of Pharmacy director of Admissions. “Our program truly is one of the best, and the value proposition for students is incredible. Our tuition is the most affordable in the state for Tennesseans and one of the most affordable of all top programs for out-of-state residents. Graduate school is an investment, but pursuing a PharmD at UT Health Science Center is a wise investment.”

The college also remains as one of the country’s most affordable pharmacy schools.

The No. 19 ranking adds to the growing list of accomplishments held by the College of Pharmacy. The College ranked No. 4 in the country for the number of residents matched for PGY1 in Phase 1 in 2024. Additionally, it holds the No. 6 ranking for National Institutes of Health funding among over 140 U.S. Doctor of Pharmacy programs. Despite these accolades, it remains one of the most affordable pharmacy schools in the nation, with tuition fees of $22,706 for Tennessee residents and $27,785 for out-of-state residents in the academic year 2023-24.
