The merger was set in motion in September of last year, after Jack and Betty Moore donated several million dollars to The University of Tennessee/West Institute for Cancer Research, the fundraising arm of the West Cancer Center. The donation was made in honor of Margaret West, mother of West Clinic founder William West.
The West Cancer Center serves all adults impacted by cancer, and the partnership behind it helps fulfill that mission by pulling together the resources from three institutions – West Clinic, Methodist and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
The Grand Opening is a result of an innovative partnership between Methodist Healthcare, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, and West Clinic, who joined together in January 2012 to form West Cancer Center.
The renovated facility is home base for the cancer center formed with a partnership of The West Clinic, Methodist Healthcare and the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
