Scientific research often struggles to break through compartmentalization among individual labs and departments. A seed funding program focused on collaboration at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) aims to change the limiting nature of “research silos.”
Researchers from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center were among the 2018 recipients of The Delta Clinical and Translational Science Consortium’s Collaborative Research Network (CORNET) Awards. The awards give up to $75,000 per project in seed funding to collaborative research teams working to combat regional health inequities in the Delta South.
Valeria Raquel Mas, PhD, has been named Director of Transplant Research for the UT- Methodist Transplant Institute. She will also hold the Transplant Institute Endowed Professorship in Translational Research at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
