Chancellor Peter Buckley

Peter Buckley, MD, the new chancellor of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, will deliver his Inaugural Address via Zoom to faculty, staff, students, the media, and the public on Tuesday, February 22, at 12 p.m. CST.

Dr. Buckley, whose first official day at UTHSC was February 7, will share his early vision for the university.

He will review his first few weeks on campus and highlight his aspirations for UTHSC, including his focus on the importance of philanthropic giving for the university and his interest in fostering increased collaboration across UTHSC’s campuses statewide to further strengthen its role as an academic and clinical health care leader for Tennessee.

The 11th chancellor of UTHSC, Dr. Buckley is the chief executive officer of the university’s statewide operation, which includes six doctoral-degree-granting health science colleges – Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, Graduate Health Sciences, and Health Professions – as well as major regional clinical health science locations in Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Nashville.

As Tennessee’s only public, statewide, academic health system, UTHSC and its clinical practice plans employ more than 4,000 people statewide. The university is the largest educator of health care professionals in the state, operates Tennessee’s largest residency and fellowship programs, and its faculty members are clinical care providers at major hospitals across the state.
