UTHSC News: UT Health Science Center Physician’s Podcast on the ‘Art of Medicine’ Reaches 100th Episode

|

Since 2020, Andrew Wilner, MD, has hosted and produced a podcast exploring the art, business, and clinical aspects of the field of medicine for the public. Now, “The Art of Medicine with Dr. Wilner” will reach 100 episodes on December 10.

Episodes from Dr. Wilner’s podcast appear biweekly on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, and all other major podcast streaming sites. Dr. Wilner’s podcast has also been recognized in the media, including ranking No. 5 on FeedSpot’s 25 Best Physicians Podcasts for 2023.

“When I started creating podcasts four years ago, I thought it would be fun to do, and I love interviewing people and learning from them,” Dr. Wilner said. “The podcast serves as a public service, but it’s actually more influential than I had anticipated, so that’s been really gratifying.”

Dr. Wilner serves as an associate professor in the Department of Neurology in the UTHSC College of Medicine and as the division director of Neurology at Regional One Health. He has over two decades of experience writing and conducting interviews as a freelance medical journalist. He has written four books covering topics on neurology, epilepsy, and clinical practice. Dr. Wilner also hosts podcasts for several medical platforms, including Medscape, ReachMD, and RadioMD.

Since 1982, he has practiced locum tenens part-time, serving in temporary physician positions in outpatient, inpatient, academic, and community settings. He was inspired to create his podcast after publishing his fourth book, “The Locum Life, A Physician’s Guide to Locum Tenens,” an inside guide for physicians practicing locum tenens. After hosting interviews with additional locum tenens experts, he decided to expand his reach and conduct interviews covering many areas of the practice of medicine.
