The Regenerative and Rehabilitation Sciences Seminar Series welcomes Dr. Jacob A. Goldsmith, an Investigator with the Neurorehabilitation & Cardiovascular Autonomic Programs at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center in the Bronx, New York.
He received an MS from Florida Atlantic University and a PhD in Exercise Physiology specializing in cardiovascular function from Florida State University. He completed post-doctoral training at the McGuire VA Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia, studying spinal cord injury (SCI). He has experience using both basic and clinical research to investigate SCI. He has examined the effects of electrical stimulation and rehabilitative training in persons with chronic SCI and employed neuromuscular electrical stimulation resistance training and epidural and transcutaneous spinal cord electrical stimulation to improve motor control and cardiovascular function in persons with chronic SCI. Dr. Goldsmith is currently investigating the efficacy of testosterone treatment in combination with task-specific exercise in individuals with SCI.
His seminar is titled “The Role of Androgens in Neurophysiological and Autonomic Function in Veterans with Spinal Cord Injury” at noon (CST) on Wednesday, December 6, 2023. Contact Janine Twitchell for ZOOM information (email@example.com)
