Although lawmakers continue to work to pass a budget by the close of the federal fiscal year on September 30, 2023, a government shutdown may occur if an agreement is not reached. UTHSC does not anticipate any disruptions to student aid or veterans education benefits if a shutdown occurs. Federal student aid and veterans benefits have already been disbursed for the current semester. Additionally, the FAFSA will not open until December this year due to the expected release of a new, simplified version. UTHSC will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide timely updates when appropriate.
