The Women’s Resource Group at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center raised $1,200 toward providing 3600 meals to families in the Mid-South. The funds were raised through donations from the first Women’s Resource Group Holiday Recipe Swap and Tasting Event held recently at the Student-Alumni Center to benefit the Mid-South Food Bank.
“UTHSC has been committed to the Mid-South Food Bank in its quest to eradicate hunger for many years,” said Chandra Alston, EdD, MBA, associate vice chancellor of Human Resources at UTHSC. “The Women’s Resource Group wanted to contribute toward an important community initiative where UTHSC could make an impact.”
The event featured homemade recipes prepared by members of the Women’s Resource Group. The campus could donate $5 to sample the dishes. The Women’s Resource Group hopes to continue the event annually to support UTHSC’s mission of public service.
Created to develop, connect, and engage women at UTHSC in their careers and life journey, the Women’s Resource Group provides opportunities for women at the university to come together, strengthening the campus and surrounding community.
