UTHSC won the award for Best Campaign Climber, Large Company, in United Way of the Mid-South’s third-annual Best of the Best Awards.

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center was among the winners of the United Way of the Mid-South’s third-annual Best of the Best Awards. Held virtually, the awards highlighted Memphis companies for their achievements in workplace campaigns, which go toward United Way’s Community Impact Fund. UTHSC won the award for Best Campaign Climber, Large Company, which recognizes the company with the highest percentage of growth over the prior campaign year. UTHSC has participated in United Way’s campaign for more than 22 years.

“We are grateful for the commitment of our corporate partners, and we wanted to find a way to thank them while remaining socially distant,” said Mary Sexton, vice president of Resource Development for United Way of the Mid-South. “The campaign donations, coupled with funding from individual donors and grant sources, help us support local nonprofits to have the maximum impact on moving individuals and families from where they are to where they dream to be. It is a true testament to our ability to do more good together than any one of us can do alone.”

“Being recognized as a winner of the United Way of the Mid South’s Best of the Best Awards  demonstrates our employees’ commitment to the community where we work and live,” said Chandra Alston, EdD, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, associate vice chancellor of Human Resources at UTHSC. “It is an honor to work alongside these incredible educators, health care professionals, researchers, and support team, who believe in improving the quality of life for Mid-Southerners by mobilizing and aligning community resources to address priority issues. UTHSC is proud to be a United Way partner and our faculty and staff will continue to invest in this amazing organization.”
