Mother-daughter nurses Robin and Piper Black, both alumnae of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center’s College of Nursing, were featured on the T0DAY show Friday in recognition of Mother’s Day and the start of National Nursing week.
Robin is a nurse practitioner, who has practiced in rural Erin, Tennessee, for nearly 30 years. Daughter Piper, who graduates today with her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the UTHSC College of Nursing, plans to go into rural health care, just like her mom.
At the close of their interview, the two were presented with a $10,000 check from TODAY sponsor, Clorox, to use for upgrades to the Erin clinic, in recognition of their essential work in rural health care.
The mother-daughter duo was featured in the UTHSC College of Nursing’s 2021 Nursing magazine last fall.
