The inaugural UTHSC Family Campaign surpassed its goal for donors by 124%. The monthlong campaign had 620 donors, well above its original goal of 500.
The philanthropic campaign, which kicked off February 1 and ran through the month, encouraged members of the UTHSC family – faculty and staff – to support their workplace with a financial gift of any size and in any area that is important to them.
“I am thrilled with the response and know that we will continue to build upon our success,” said Peter Buckley, MD, chancellor of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. “Thanks to our work family for all you do every day for UTHSC and for making an impact.”
“I am also appreciative of our campaign leadership,” the chancellor said. “They offered their time and a personal commitment to lead by example.”
Faculty and staff from across the colleges and operational units helped generate support for the campaign. On February 15, the midpoint of the campaign, the campus was invited to morning and afternoon parties in the Mooney Building to celebrate the effort and support each other in giving to the university.
“At the end of the day, we all are peddlers of hope and supporters of dreams,” said Charles “Charley” Deal, interim vice chancellor for Advancement. “The success of the UTHSC Family Campaign speaks to the level of passion our faculty and staff have for our institution.”
