Students from the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP) at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) will host Race for the Summitt at Health Sciences Park in Memphis on Sunday, April 23, at 8:30 a.m.
Organized in 2012 by students in the College of Pharmacy at UTHSC, Race for the Summitt is a four-mile race/walk that raises money for Alzheimer’s disease research.
The Pat Summitt Foundation was established by former University of Tennessee, Knoxville, women’s basketball coach, the late Pat Summitt, in November 2011, and is dedicated to increasing awareness and providing education about Alzheimer’s disease.
“Coach Summitt is near to the hearts of all University of Tennessee System students across the country, and APhA-ASP strives to promote patient education across all aspects of health care,” said Alyson Blair, APhA-ASP communications vice president.
