Leaders of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) will share the vision for future development of the campus on Oct. 27 from 5-7 p.m. during a Campus Master Plan Open House for faculty, staff, students, the media and the community.
UTHSC is in the process of outlining its roadmap for growth for the next 10 to 15 years, and has commissioned the award-winning firm of Perkins + Will to draft the new Campus Master Plan for property acquisition, partnerships, land and building use, site selection, use of open space and traffic circulation.
“The quality of the physical environment has a tremendous influence on the image of our institution, thus this comprehensive master plan will serve as a guide for shaping our campus in support of the university’s academic mission,” said UTHSC Chancellor Steve Schwab, MD. The goal is to enhance the position of the campus as the linchpin of the Memphis Medical Center area, he said.
The open house will be held in the O.D. Larry Dining Hall of the Student-Alumni Center, 800 Madison. Free parking is available in Lot R on the corner of Dunlap and Madison.
After a year of input from students, faculty, staff, community stakeholders and administrators at UTHSC, representatives from Perkins + Will will present the latest version of the blueprint for the physical evolution of the UTHSC campus. Those attending will be able to ask questions and offer feedback.
“The University of Tennessee is committed to keeping our community well informed as we move forward with the plan,” Chancellor Schwab said.
