Tejesh Patel, MD, FAAD, chair of the Kaplan-Amonette Department of Dermatology in the College of Medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, has been selected as one of the Memphis Business Journal’s Top 40 Under 40 in Memphis . The 40 Under 40 Awards salute men and women under the age of 40 in Memphis and the Mid-South, who have made significant contributions to our community in the business, professional, civic, and personal arenas. The awards event will be held at the Holiday Inn, University of Memphis on November 6.

Dr. Patel completed an internal medicine internship and a dermatology residency with the UTHSC College of Medicine, as well as fellowships with the Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

A native of London, England, Dr. Patel chose UTHSC and Memphis to practice for many reasons. Among his mentors were Robert Skinner, MD, professor in the Department of Dermatology; E. William Rosenberg, MD, who established the residency program for the Department of Dermatology; and Rex Amonette, MD, after whom the department is named.

Dr. Patel oversees clinical, educational and research activities within the department.  A Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr Patel is president of the Memphis Dermatology Society, past president of the Tennessee Dermatology Society and a member of various committees within the American Academy of Dermatology.  In addition, Dr. Patel is author and co-author to more than 40 medical publications, book chapters, and presentations.
