The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) Student National Pharmacy Association (SNPhA) Chapter received the Chauncey I. Cooper National Chapter of Excellence Award. This is the sixth time in eight years that UTHSC has won the award.
Chauncey I. Cooper founded the National Pharmaceutical Association in 1949 as a professional outlet for minorities. SNPhA is a spin-off of the national organization, and the award is named in Cooper’s honor to recognize dedication and excellence.
“This is a major accomplishment for us as a chapter,” said Jeffery Tompkins, PharmD, past president of SNPhA. “We have a strong tradition of excellence at UTHSC, and this award proves nothing has changed.”
UTHSC was also recognized for excellence in membership reporting (first group to send in membership information and dues), professional services (most significant, unique service project), and community initiative (Operation Immunization Program).
