Memphis BioImaging Symposium Draws Internationally Recognized Experts

World-renowned experts in the major fields of medical imaging will gather at the at the University of Memphis for the Sixth Annual Memphis BioImaging Symposium (MemBIS) on Thursday, Nov. 5, and Friday, Nov. 6.

World-renowned experts in the major fields of medical imaging will gather at the Fogelman Executive Conference Center at the University of Memphis for the Sixth Annual Memphis BioImaging Symposium (MemBIS) on Thursday, Nov. 5, and Friday, Nov. 6.

This year’s pre-conference workshop on Thursday afternoon, prior to the symposium, will focus on Microscopy and Optical Imaging.

The symposium kicks off at 6 p.m. Thursday with the Keynote Address given by Michael Welch, Ph.D., Washington University. A reception will follow, featuring a networking session, research posters and commercial exhibits.

This year’s symposium includes talks on Imaging in Radiotherapy, Computer Aided Detection, and Funding trends as seen through the eyes of the program at NIH.

Presentations on the latest in high-tech bioimaging by experts from University of Texas/MD Anderson, University of Wisconsin, Washington University, University of Michigan, University of Chicago, GE Global Research and National Cancer Institute will round out Friday’s program.

Thaddeus A. Wilson, Ph.D., associate professor, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Department of Radiology, serves as chair of the 2009 MemBIS symposium. Steven J. Bares, Ph.D., president and executive director, Memphis Bioworks Foundation, serves as co-chair. Siemens and Hologic are the commercial supporters for the 2009 symposium.

The preliminary agenda and additional details can be found at www.MemBIS.org. Registration for the symposium can be made on-line or on-site. Attendees can earn a maximum of 8.75 AMA PRA Category 1 credits.
