Ferrara Named Vice Chancellor for Finance and Operation

Following a nation-wide search, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) announces the appointment of Tony Ferrara, CPA, MAS, as vice chancellor for finance and operations.

Following a nation-wide search, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) announces the appointment of Tony Ferrara, CPA, MAS, as vice chancellor for finance and operations.

A certified public accountant, Ferrara brings to UTHSC strong experience in financial forecasting and the development of business plans. Most recently, he served for four years as vice president for administration at Binghamton University in New York. Prior to that he was vice president for administration and business affairs at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he was responsible for overall financial and administrative management, as well as overseeing finances for the physicians’ practice group. The first 18 years of his career were spent in various leadership positions with the University of Illinois in Chicago and Urbana-Champaign.

“Mr. Ferrara brings a wealth of experience in academic financial management to UTHSC. In addition to managing major capital construction projects at several institutions, he has led efforts to implement financial information systems and streamlined budget management programs. Tony recognizes and has successfully dealt with the special challenges of an academic health science center and we are quite fortunate he has elected to join us,” said Ken Brown, UTHSC chief of staff and search committee chair.

Ferrara earned a bachelor’s degree in accountancy and a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, as well as a certificate from Harvard University’s JFK School of Government.
