Scott Summers, MSEd, joined the University of Tennessee Health Science Center earlier this year as the university’s registrar. Lyndsay Pittman, MEd, who previously held the position, is now the assistant vice chancellor for Enrollment Management.
As the registrar, Summers is responsible for the integrity of academic records in enrollment verification, transcripts, correct student registration, state and federal reporting, coordinating class schedules, and working with the colleges on their academic calendars. Summers implements and interprets academic policies, manages the student record database, and handles the distribution of all formal student academic records within the Office of Academic, Faculty and Student Affairs.
“I’m so excited to have Scott as our new registrar,” Pittman said. “His diverse background in higher education brings experience to our talented team in the Registrar’s Office. He will bring fresh ideas to the enrollment management leadership team that will help us advance our services to faculty, staff, and students at UTHSC. I can’t wait to see all that the Office of the Registrar accomplish under his leadership and guidance.”
Summers received a Bachelor of Science in Business from Indiana University and a Master of Science in Education from Purdue University. In his first 10 years in higher education, he worked in academic advising at Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College and at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He then moved into transfer course evaluation and articulation at Eastern Kentucky University before moving to Memphis as the registrar at Christian Brothers University.
