Two outstanding employees were recognized for their dedication and service to the University of Tennessee Health Science Center during the 2019 Campus Awards ceremony Thursday.

Daniel Cox, an IT administrator II in the Department of Information Technology Services, won the 2019 Thomas Connell Lichterman Employee of the Year Award. Both of the winners received plaques and $1,500 checks. The awards are presented through the Office of Equity and Diversity. Finalists are nominated by their colleagues, and the winners are determined after interviews with a selection committee. The ceremony was held in the College of Pharmacy lobby.

“UTHSC’s campus awards demonstrate how much inclusion is valued in our workplace,” said Michael Alston, EdD, CCDP/AP, assistant vice chancellor for Equity and Diversity, Title IX coordinator, and chief diversity officer at UTHSC. “The recognized finalists offer a body of work, contributions, and actions that are consistent and meaningful through their ideas, knowledge, perspectives, approaches, and styles that enable departmental and institutional successes.”

The Thomas Connell Lichterman Employee of the Year Award is presented to a non-exempt employee who demonstrates the high standards and positive characteristics exemplified by Lichterman, who was a messenger for UTMG and UTHSC for 11 years. Cox has been with UTHSC since 2012.
