Cathy Sanchez, MSc, has been named the director of Financial Aid in Enrollment Management for the University of Tennessee Health Science Center. She will begin her new role this month.
Sanchez will provide leadership in the Office of Financial Aid by developing and implementing financial aid programs for students, maintaining the strategic vision for Enrollment Management, and executing the procurement of aid funds from federal, state, and private sources. She will also collaborate with the colleges to identify opportunities for new scholarship programs for to reduce student debt.
Sanchez has served in multiple roles in higher education over the past 20 years that include financial aid counselor, assistant director, and director of financial aid. In her roles as assistant director and director, Sanchez has maintained above a 95 percent student satisfaction rate by designing staff training courses, initiating communication functions for easier student access and developing financial literacy presentations for students.
“I am so thrilled to have Cathy joining our team as the financial aid director,” said Assistant Vice Chancellor Lyndsay Pittman, MEd. “She brings a wealth of knowledge in student aid policy and administration. Her success in prioritizing services to students at a health science center is impressive and I can’t wait to see her ideas put into practice. I’m looking forward to the accomplishments of Cathy and the talented financial aid team.”
Before joining UTHSC, Sanchez was the assistant director of Financial Aid at the University of North Texas Health Science Center. She also held positions at George Fox University, Point Loma Nazarene College and the Citibank Student Loan Corporation. Sanchez has a bachelor’s degree in Business and Economics from George Fox College. She holds a master’s degree in Learning Technologies from the University of North Texas.

My goal is to keep UTHSC compliant with all federal, state and institutional policies and regulations, while providing exceptional customer service to our students, faculty, and staff.”
