APhA-ASP To Host Community Health Fair on December 1

|

On December 1, the American Pharmacists Association Academy of Student Pharmacists at University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) will host a community health fair in collaboration with Planned Parenthood and OUT Memphis, an advocacy organization for the LGBTQIA community. The event will take place from 1 p.m.-7 p.m. at the Sexton Community Center, located at 1235 Brown Avenue in Memphis.

In an effort to raise awareness about HIV and AIDS on World AIDS Day, free HIV testing, basic eye exams, education ranging from immunizations to diabetes to medication safety and more, will be offered at the event.

“As pharmacy students, we believe it is our responsibility to support our Memphis community any way we can,” UTHSC pharmacy student Jonathon Taylor said. “Community service is the most fitting gesture on days like World AIDS Day. Knowledge is power, and it is such a great opportunity to help educate our city on this treatable disease.”
