Next week emergency power outlets in the Wittenborg building will experience a 60-minute loss of power. This shutdown will affect electrical outlets provided with emergency backup power (usually red electrical outlets). This work is necessary as part of the building emergency power upgrade project currently in progress. The schedule for this power disruption to emergency power outlets only is as follows:
- Monday, August 4, from 2:00 – 3:00 pm
- Friday, August 8, from 1:00 – 2:00 pm
Individuals running experiments or operating equipment (e.g., freezers) should plan accordingly by either temporarily relocating their power sources to non-backup power outlets to avoid being impacted or establishing a plan to check equipment after the shutdown period to ensure that it has properly restarted. Please remember that according to university procedure freezers containing critical research specimens must be included on the university critical freezer registry to be insured against loss. Additional information about the critical freezer registry and instructions for adding or deleting freezers is available on this webpage or by contacting Research Safety Affairs at safety@uthsc.edu.
If you have additional questions about this project or appropriate sources of alternate power during the shutdown please contact Mr. Edwin Jeffres, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Facilities, at ejeffres@uthsc.edu.
Thank you for your cooperation.
