What’s New on Blackboard Ultra – September 2026 Highlights!

|

This release introduces improvements to content authoring, assessment, gradebook insights, and course access:

  • Content Editor Improvements (Beta): The Early Access Content Editor adds new indentation controls, a streamlined toolbar that stays compact on smaller screens, and expanded keyboard shortcuts — plus a new Keyboard Shortcuts reference — for a more polished, accessible authoring experience.
  • Restrict File Types for Assignment Submissions: Instructors can now limit which file types are accepted for an assignment. Students see the accepted types before submitting and get a warning if they try to upload one that isn’t allowed.
  • Outcomes Mastery in the Gradebook: Instructors can now view student mastery across outcomes, assignments, and competencies directly in the gradebook — no separate tool required.
  • Guest Access for Ultra Course Content: Prospective and current students can now browse open Ultra course content from the Course Catalog without enrolling, bringing guest access (already available in Original courses) to Ultra Course View.
