After a nationwide search, Trey Eubanks, MD, professor of surgery and chief of the Division of Pediatric Surgery at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center and surgeon-in-chief at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital, has been appointed president of Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Eubanks has served as Le Bonheur’s interim president since March 2023. He will assume the role permanently later this month.
“At UT Health Science Center, we are thrilled that one of our own has been appointed to this prominent position, which will greatly impact the health of children and families in our local community and state,” said Chancellor Peter Buckley, MD. “The fact that Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare conducted a national search and found the best candidate right here at UT Health Science Center speaks volumes about our academic and clinical performance.”
The chancellor expressed gratitude to Methodist Le Bonheur President and CEO Michael Ugwueke, DHA, FACHE, also a member of the UTHSC Advisory Board, for his skillful formation and direction of the search committee. The committee was superbly led by James Downing, MD, president and CEO of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Edith-Kelly Green, a prominent local business leader and Methodist Le Bonheur board member, and included several UTHSC faculty members, who are leaders at Le Bonheur.
