The University of Tennessee Health Science Center’s Campus Police Department is partnering with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office in the “Click it or Ticket” campaign from May 20 to June 2, to increase seat belt enforcement as a part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s nationwide mobilization.
During this campaign, Campus Police will heavily patrol throughout the Memphis Medical District to identify drivers who are not wearing seat belts, issue citations, and give literature to educate seat belt safety and increase awareness of Tennessee’s safety laws. “Safety is paramount, and we want everybody to make sure they are wearing their seatbelts to save their lives, the lives of their passengers, and others, should they be involved in a crash,” said Campus Police Lieutenant Celia Tisby.
The Campus Police Department is committed to the safety and security of students, faculty, and staff on the UT Health Science Center Memphis campus and the medical district community. In addition, the department is accredited by the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., and the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators.
