About the Event:
- Make a difference in your community by helping to provide essential food items to those in need! We are looking for compassionate and reliable volunteers to assist in our food pantry.
Responsibilities:
- Keep all shelves organized, clean, well-stocked, and properly rotated.
- Sort and pack food donations by bagging fresh produce, frozen/refrigerated foods, bread, and non-perishable items.
- Unload food truck deliveries from local businesses and partners.

About the Event:
What are Event Support Volunteers?
Event Support Volunteers are the backbone of the event, helping welcome participants, lead meal-packing teams, keep supplies moving, and ensure everything runs smoothly. Volunteers must be 18+, and positions are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
Available roles will be assigned based on need:
- Table Captains– Lead and energize meal-packing teams
- Heavy Lifters / Runners– Keep supplies moving and stations stocked
- Hospitality & Registration– Welcome and assist volunteers
- Set-Up & Break-Down Crew– Prepare and reset the event space

*Groups of up to 10 can register together if all volunteers have committed to the time and opportunity. We ask that individual email addresses be included whenever possible so we can provide important event reminders and parking information.

Little Hands, Healthy Habits: Teaching and Crafts with Hope House Kindergarteners

About the Event:
Come volunteer with FMIG as we visit Hope House’s kindergarten class to teach students about hand hygiene and healthy habits through an interactive lesson and a craft! We will meet at 8:45 to go over the plan for the class, visit the students at 9:00 to go over the hand hygiene talk, and then help the students with their finger-painting activity. We will end the hour by helping the students wash their hands.
Practice communicating healthy habits in a fun, age-appropriate way while gaining hands-on experience interacting with young children. Come ready to teach, connect, and have fun! No previous teaching experience necessary!
Community Garden

About the Event:
We will be helping till, weed and maintain a community garden at New Sardis Baptist Church. The food is collected and shared with the local community including elderly residents who cannot access fresh fruits and veggies on their own. Please bring water, sunscreen, and clothing that can get dirty. If you have them, we also recommend bringing gardening gloves and shoes that cover your ankles.
The garden is located behind New Sardis Baptist Church (7739 E Holmes Rd.). You can enter through whatever gate is open — more often it is the one at the bottom of the hill. The garden is at the back of the parking lot.

Dental and Dental Hygiene students will provide dental screenings, patient education, and guidance on oral hygiene practices to those attending.
It’s an excellent chance for you to engage with the community that plays a crucial role in your clinical education. You might meet community members who could benefit from finding a dental home and the services offered at UT Health Sciences College of Dentistry.
Remember to wear your scrubs, charge your loupes, bring a disposable blue clinic jacket, plenty of business cards and let your engaging personality shine through.
This event counts for D3/D4 required community service experiences and Peds reflection points if submissions are entered within 2 weeks of the event.
DH students will receive community service credit.

Under the supervision of Dr. Dalgo and Dr. Ost, we provide essential services, including wound care, non-controlled medications, emotional support, and assistance in connecting patients to higher levels of care. All UT Health Sciences medical students are welcome!

About the Event:
You will bring a prepared meal to the house to serve, and then sit and each with the families and staff. The number of people in the house varies, but the meal will typically be for around 10-15 people. We would love for you, your family, friends or a group you’re part of to come and spend time with the families of the Dorothy Day House. Please limit groups to a maximum of 5 people.
By signing up, you are responsible for the entire meal. Please avoid dishes with pork. We will provide plates, cups, and utensils. We will reach out the week or two before about which location and how many people will be at the meal.
