More than just feeling a bit sad, depression is a persistent sense of sadness and disinterest. Depression affects how a person feels, thinks, and behaves and can result in several emotional and physical issues.
Someone suffering from depression might find it difficult to carry out regular daily tasks and might occasionally think life isn’t worth living. Depression is not a weakness and may require long-term treatment.
This session explores the types, risk factors, and symptoms of the mood disorder depression.
In addition, this session looks at how depression appears in the workplace, intervention methods, and tips for supporting someone with depression.
Learning Points:
- Clarify the difference between feeling “down”, sadness, and depression
- Determine the impact of clinical depression in the workplace
- Identify appropriate intervention methods
- Create an action plan for how to support mental health concerns in the workplace
