PUBLIC NOTICE: UT to Hold Public Rulemaking Hearing

The University of Tennessee Board of Trustees will hold a rulemaking hearing, in the manner prescribed by the Uniform Administrative Procedures Act, T.C.A. §4-5-204, on Monday, Oct. 21, starting at 1 p.m. EDT/noon CDT. The hearing will be held at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Student Union (Room 260), 1502 Cumberland Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37996.

The University previously filed a Notice of Rulemaking Hearing with the Tennessee secretary of state on Aug. 20. The hearing pertains to a proposed amendment to Rule 1720-01-01 (Classifying Students In-State and Out-of-State). Pursuant to authority delegated by the Board, General Counsel Ryan Stinnett will serve as the presiding officer to oversee and conduct the hearing.

Oral and written comments on the proposed rule amendment will be received at the public hearing. In addition, a virtual, livestream option will be made available for interested parties to provide oral comments at the hearing who have preregistered to speak by no later than 5 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, Oct. 16.

The Board’s Standing Rule Governing Requests to Address the Board describes the procedures, terms and conditions that govern requests to speak at the hearing. More information about registering to speak at the hearing is available at: https://trustees.tennessee.edu/rulemaking-hearings/.

Interested parties may also submit written comments pertaining to the rule amendment before Monday, Oct. 14, by mail or email, to Ryan Stinnett. He may be contacted regarding questions, along with requests for copies of the rulemaking notice.
