Four of our outstanding UT Health Science Center colleagues were among 15 individuals honored at a luncheon in Nashville Thursday with the 2024 UT Presidents Awards, the highest honor given by the UT System to employees.
Please join me in congratulating our honorees: David Shibata, MD, Harwell Wilson Alumni Endowed Chair in the Department of Surgery; Ammar Ammar, assistant vice chancellor for information technology and Information Security Officer; Bruce Keisling, PhD, executive director for the Center on Developmental Disabilities; and Karen Derefinko, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Preventive Medicine.
President Randy Boyd spoke eloquently of how inspiring it is to work alongside all the exceptional individuals recognized for their service to the system and to the people of Tennessee.
I share that sentiment wholeheartedly.
As we begin a new academic year, I want to encourage our entire UT Health Science Center family to celebrate each other and to be proud of all we accomplish together as we continue to fulfill our vision for Healthy Tennesseans. Thriving Communities.
You – our colleagues and friends – are awesome and awe-inspiring.
With gratitude,
Peter Buckley, MD
Chancellor
