ITS has an asset management program that helps manage all UTHSC-owned devices, such as the computers and laptops you use. Our inventory shows thousands of UTHSC-owned devices have not “called home” in several months. These devices are listed as “unknown” in our inventory, meaning they haven’t connected to the UTHSC network or VPN in a long time.
We understand that during remote work or study, many devices were taken home “just in case they were needed.” Now, we need your help tracking them down.
- Check your home or office for any UTHSC-issued devices (laptops, desktops, tablets, etc.) that haven’t been used in a while.
- Reconnect them by either:
- Bringing them to campus and connecting to the UTHSC network, or
- Turning them on at home and connecting through the UTHSC VPN over the weekend.
This simple step ensures the device is properly inventoried, updated, and secured—essential for our cybersecurity, compliance, and support operations.
If you no longer need a device, surplus it using our easy-to-use process.
