Think about all the places you’ve shared personal information online. Shopping websites, mobile apps, social media accounts, subscription services, and even websites you visited only once may still have your name, email address, passwords, or payment information stored.
The more places your information is stored, the more opportunities there are for it to be exposed in a data breach.
This week, take a few minutes for some digital housekeeping. Review accounts you no longer use, delete those you don’t need, remove saved payment information where possible, and uninstall unused apps. For accounts you keep, review privacy settings and make sure you’re not sharing more information than necessary.
Remember, good cyber hygiene isn’t just about protecting the information you use every day. It’s also about knowing WHERE your information lives and reducing the places it could be exposed.
A little digital decluttering today can help prevent a bigger cleanup tomorrow.
