Cybersecurity Tip of the Week – If They Get Your Email, What Else Can They Get?

|

Think about how many of your online accounts are connected to your email. Shopping, banking, social media, streaming services, utilities, travel sites, and countless other accounts use your email address to communicate with you and, more importantly, to help reset your password.

If someone gains access to your email, they may be able to search your inbox to learn which services you use, request password resets, intercept verification messages, and potentially take control of other accounts. They could also impersonate you and send convincing scams to your friends, family, or coworkers.

Protect all your email accounts with strong, unique passwords and multi-factor authentication. Make sure your recovery phone number and email address are current, and periodically review your account for unfamiliar login activity or unexpected forwarding rules.

We often think of email as just another account to protect. In reality, it can be the key to your entire digital life. Protect it accordingly.
