Activity Overview: The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) / Methodist Hospital Transplant Institute’s fifth annual Current Perspectives in Hepatology Symposium – Emerging Topics in Liver Disease highlights our commitment to improving the health of our patients and the dissemination of medical knowledge to our community.  This one-day symposium features national and local speakers with expertise in liver disease.  Topics will be presented to address the individual physician gaps and will include current diagnosis, skills, and methodologies within the practice environment.

Educational Objectives:

  • Diagnose and develop a treatment strategy for viral hepatitis in non-academic practices
  • Appropriate recognition of drug induced liver disease
  • Enhanced knowledge of treatments for fatty liver disease, cholestatic liver diseases, inflammatory, bowel diseases
  • Describe the role of gut microbiome in liver disease
  • Advancements in non-invasive diagnosis of HCC and liver fibrosis

Target Audience: Gastroenterologists and Hepatologists, Internal Medicine Physicians, Family Medicine Physicians, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Gastroenterology Fellows, Residents, and Medical Students

Accreditation: The UTCOM is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
