The Lichterman Award nominations will be open July 29 through August 16. To honor the memory of Tommy Lichterman and in celebration of his dedicated and enthusiastic service to UT Health Science Center, the Lichterman family and many friends have established the Thomas Connell Lichterman Employee of the Year Award.
This Award is presented annually to a non-exempt employee who demonstrates the high standards and positive characteristics exemplified by Tommy.
Many on campus remember Tommy Lichterman and were impressed with his dedication to the University and his position within it. The awardee will represent the commitment to excellence reflected throughout the University and exemplified by Tommy. This coveted recognition is one which all non-exempt employees should aspire to achieve. Presentation of this prestigious award, along with a $1,500 check, will be made at a special event honoring all employees who have demonstrated outstanding service.
Eligibility
1. Employees must have a non-exempt title classification.
2. Employees must be a full-time UT Health Science Center employee (including employees at St. Francis and Jackson) or a full-time UCH employee.
3. Employees must have been employed a minimum of three years prior to nomination.

Nomination Process
Nominations may be submitted by any UT or UCH employee; although, anonymous or self-nominations are not acceptable. Previous winners are also ineligible. There is no limit to the number of years that an individual can be nominated.

Selection Process
Employee and supervisor are notified of nomination.
Supervisor and two colleagues review work habits of nominee.
Input from other references may be solicited.
Finalists are selected for an interview with Lichterman Award Advisory Committee.
Awardee’s department receives a plaque. Awardee also receives a plaque as well as an $1,500 award presented at a special recognition ceremony. The plaque in the Student Alumni Center is also updated with the name of the newest awardee.
