The University of Tennessee Health Science Center recently held its Winter Commencement ceremony at the Cannon Center for the Performing Arts, graduating 94 future health care professionals.
“You are a particularly special class because you have graduated in spite of and during a global pandemic,” Chancellor Peter Buckley, MD, said in presiding at the ceremony. “You have the degree of resilience that will be an extraordinary gift to you, your work, and to American health care. We honor and celebrate you in your resilience.”
The 94 graduates included 17 from the College of Graduate Health Sciences, nine from the College of Health Professions, 30 from the College of Medicine, and 38 from the College of Nursing.
“We are grateful for all that you have done along the way in your training and in particular in your community outreach and in your support of our organization and the Memphis community during the global pandemic,” Chancellor Buckley said.
Lee Ann Adams, president of the University of Tennessee Alumni Association, inducted students into the association during the ceremony.
“Today as you become a graduate of this outstanding institution, you join a family of over 433,000 UT alumni who live in Tennessee, across the nation, and around the world,” Adams said to the graduates. “You have now become lifelong stakeholders in the image and reputation of our great university.”
