On Friday, December 9, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) will graduate 71 health care professionals at its winter commencement. The ceremony, the second commencement to be held during UTHSC’s centennial year, will begin at 10:30 a.m. in Schreier Auditorium, Wassell Randolph Student-Alumni Center, 800 Madison Avenue, ground floor. Steve J. Schwab, MD, chancellor of UT Health Science Center, will preside over the ceremony and confer the degrees.
These 71 centennial-year graduates are from four of the six UT Health Science Center’s colleges.
25 from the College of Allied Health Sciences;
25 from the College of Graduate Health Sciences;
1 from the College of Medicine; and
20 from the College of Nursing.
“As our centennial draws to a close, it is gratifying to report that we have graduated a total of 686 students during our 100th anniversary year,” Chancellor Schwab observed. “Over the past six years, on average, UTHSC has graduated 730 health care professionals annually. Our graduates have dispersed across the city, state, region and beyond to carry our brand of competent, caring professionalism into the lives of hundreds of patients. Everyone affiliated with UTHSC — faculty, staff, students, alumni, donors and friends — should be proud of the outstanding achievements of our first century.”
