UTHSC Seeks to Recruit 100 New Employees through Job Fairs in Nashville, Memphis

Memphis, Tenn. (Jan. 14, 2013) – The dismal statistics on the low level of employment for college graduates are just one troubling indicator of today’s economic realities. More than half of America’s recent college graduates are either unemployed or working in jobs that don’t require a bachelor’s degree. In February, the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC) will join job fairs in Nashville and Memphis in hopes of filling more than 100 available positions. The jobs, which all require high school and/or a bachelor’s degree, are located on the UTHSC main campus in Memphis as well as at UTHSC sites in Chattanooga and Jackson, Tenn.; San Antonio, Texas; Wichita, Kan.; and Biloxi, Miss.

“Participation in job fairs is an important element of our recruiting strategy,” said Jerry Hall, director of Human Resources at UTHSC. “We take these opportunities to share important information about the variety of open positions, scope of our institutional mission and strength of our state benefits package. In recent years, we’ve been quite successful adding bright, energetic new team members from these events. We look forward to continuing that trend.”

Released in 2011, a study designed to gauge economic impact reported that the UT Health Science Center’s total economic contribution to the state amounted to more than $2.3 billion. UTHSC was directly and indirectly responsible for approximately 21,096 jobs across the state, which, in turn, generated a total of more than $804 million in earnings.
