A new collaboration between the Hamilton Eye Institute and the Southern College of Optometry is giving UTHSC faculty, staff, and students new options for their eye care health.

Through the Vision Enhancement Program, the campus community will be provided with discount opportunities at the University Clinical Health-Hamilton Eye Institute at UTHSC, The Eye Center at the Southern College of Optometry (SCO) and University Eye Care of SCO, and the Focal Point at Crosstown Concourse. Participants must show their UTHSC or SCO ID to receive discounts at participating locations. Eligible dependents can also take advantage of the program.

“This incentive is a result of a collaborative relationship between the Hamilton Eye Institute and the Southern College of Optometry,” said Anthony Ferrara, CPA, MAS, vice chancellor for finance at UTHSC. “These organizations have informally worked together for years so it’s great that this formal collaboration has come about. It is beneficial with or without insurance. Not only is it a way for our students to receive much needed discounts, but campus families as well. It saves money and encourages people to use their resources while striving for better eye health.”

The Vision Enhancement Program has no affiliation with the state’s vision insurance through Davis Vision, nor does it impact employees who are currently enrolled in Davis Vision. Employees currently covered under Davis Vision, who may use the discount program, can review the Davis Vision benefits and compare them to the Vision Enhancement Program to determine the best option.
