Haik Elected Trustee-at-large

Barrett Haik, MD, UTHSC Hamilton Professor and chair of ophthalmology,was elected as a trustee-at-large for the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Barrett Haik, MD, Hamilton Professor and chair of ophthalmology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, (UTHSC) was elected as a trustee-at-large for the American Academy of Ophthalmology. A trustee-at-large is elected to a four-year term, and only two are elected each year. To be elected as trustees-at-large, members must be an Academy Fellow or Life Fellow who is especially attuned to the needs and expectations of the Academy’s members.

As the largest national membership association of ophthalmologists, the organization is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for patients by helping them to see their best and by protecting their vision and eye health throughout life.

Dr. Haik was also elected to serve on the board of trustees of the Association of University Professors in Ophthalmology. This organization provides the guidelines and mechanisms for supporting the educational and research activities of medical schools.
